Our history

Bodega el Hombre Orquesta, was created in Labastida in 2016 by two friends passionate about wine Rodrigo Fernandez and Mikel Mujika. Rodrigo is the winemaker of the winery. He has a long experience making wines and advising other winegrowers in the area. Mikel is responsible for the management; Together, they decided to take their passion to another level and create a unique and authentic wine cellar.

Our philosophy is based on the freedom and autonomy to create authentic flavors with our own ideas, without following trends. We have fun doing what we love, so each of our wine creations is a reflection of our passion and dedication.

The name El Hombre Orquesta refers to our way of working: we take care of the whole process, from the vineyard to the bottle, passing through the winery. It also reflects our personality: we are multifaceted and creative people.

In the beginning, we had to resort to the help of friends to make our dream come true. One of them was Nicolás Peñafiel, who gave us his winery in Briones so that we could make our first wines. It was there that the first vintages of El Hombre Orquesta were born.

Our production

Our first vintage was in 2017, and since then, we have been working to surprise wine lovers with different and authentic flavors. We use grapes from old vineyards of 50 and 100 years, which are owned by our friends Kepa Arinas and Fito Alvarez located in Labastida and Briñas in the foothills of Toloño, from our point of view, one of the best areas of the Rioja Alavesa. Currently, we are in Labastida, we thank the Hotel Jatorrena for their support in this new project.

As a small winery, our production is around 15,000 bottles, we have the opportunity to make wines with total freedom, just as we like. What gives us option to learn, investigate and above all have fun. From this experience have come our 666 monovarietal wines: Grenache, Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Viura.

We are proud to say that our wine cellar has been growing, but always maintaining our essence and philosophy. We are committed to quality and authenticity in each of our products, and that is what has led us to be recognized in the wine market.
